Ogden After Hours recently featured Brian Seeger (guitar), Gerald French (drums), Casandra Faulconer (electric bass), and Brent Rose (tenor sax), aka the Gentilly Groovemasters, for a show and interview (with Seeger). The players are legend in New Orleans–Seeger has played with everyone from Aaron Neville to Zachary Richard and was part of a great jazz group called Quintology. Casandra Faulconer is a much-decorated bassist from Canada who now calls New Orleans home and aside from the Groovemasters, also plays with Cowboy Mouth and previously, with Have Soul Will Travel (hi Bert!). Gerald French is from the French family. Need we say more? OK, we will–he’s played with Dr. John, Ingrid Lucia, Preservation Hall, and about a hundred other names you’d recognize –and he’s a fourth generation Wild Magnolias Mardi Gras Indian. Brent Rose studied under Ellis Marsalis and is also a veteran of Quintology, who now plays with Joe Krown. Enjoy the pics and check out the band live.
