Strange Roux and Wasted Lives @ the Howlin’ Wolf!

Two very different bands, one very exceptional night.  We raved about Strange Roux before and sometimes great things stay exactly the way you want them.  Be sure to check out their show at Tipitina’s on April 21 with Purpetrator and Cold Turkey (breathe easy–Tips is smoke-free!).

The Wasted Lives followed Strange Roux with a honky-tonk  throw down featuring Joy Patterson on lead vocals and interesting wind instruments, Matt Bell on guitar, Kathleen Kraus on upright bass,  Johnny Cashner on rhythm guitar, Helen Gillet on drums, and Neti Vaan on violin.  Everyone sings.  Everybody jams.  Helen Gillet is in color because drummers always get the short stick from photographers and because we like her that way, ya dig?

Your job?  Checking Wasted Lives out at the AllWays Lounge on St. Claude:  April 12 and 19th.  In the meantime, our flash-is-for-mood-bustin’-losers, HIGH ISO pics of the show:

Of course, Helen should be in color- she’s a rock star!
