We missed both Mayhem and Vans this year for a variety of reasons and are looking forward to the Crescent City Blues and BBQ Festival and Voodoo, but we needed some energy right now. OFF! at Siberia delivered, as if we had any doubts in Keith Morris, even after all these years. If you’re just joining the punk bandwagon (it’s late, but there still some time left):

…Keith Morris founded both Black Flag and the Circle Jerks (after leaving Black Flag in the late 1970s) and is one of the most influential punk rockers ever. The hair may be thinning a bit on top, but somehow, after 35+ years of dropping punk anthems, it’s still 1979:
Siberia was a madhouse for the show and we were dodging flying feet (and worse) while shooting at ISO 6400-8000 and generally 1/15 or 1/20s, so we were pleasantly surprised to bring home a few decent shots (all things considered). If you missed the show, this and a fantastic new album, “Wasted Years“, is all you get, but keep eyes open for OFF!–it’s one of your last chances to peek into punk history and see the real thing. You won’t find “pop punk” at an OFF! show, and thank the gods for that.
