Machine Head and Behemoth at House of Blues NOLA!

There are occasional dry spells in the NOLA metal scene and while Siberia tries to keep that scene going, it’s a small venue and simply can’t draw the big acts.  House of Blues NOLA to the rescue, with two huge metal shows in January 2015: Machine Head on January 23 and Behemoth (with Cannibal Corpse) on the 28th.

We first shot Machine Head in Montreal at Heavy MTL, in 2011, and then followed up with a Mayhem show in 2013.  Straight out of the thrash metal birth canal of Oakland, CA, Machine Head mix “traditional” heavy metal with thrash, for a unique high-energy show. Tired?  That won’t last–a Machine Head show is equivalent to being the “victim” of a Pulp Fictionesque adrenaline shot, straight through the breastbone. If you want ballads, look somewhere else. While you wait, Machine Head have released eight albums since forming in 1991, most recently, Bloodstone and Diamonds. And if you’re a metalhead, we don’t have to preach about the Behemoth show. Kings of Polish death metal, Nergal and company bring it–the real question is whether you can take it!   Here are some shots from the Barge to Hell, where we had the pleasure of catching them for two shows, including an epic show on the main stage, located outside on the deck of the ship.
